报告摘要:The uniquecapabilities of a SQUID based instrumental low AC susceptibility at lowerfrequency range and measuring liquid samples by DC method that fits raw datascans. For next generation SQUID system (MPMS-3),the key benefits from modernelectronics are better control of motor position
array and density of SQUIDvoltage readings yield superb raw data scans, plus simplified AC susceptibilityphase calibration routine. In comparison, the
slow, originalstepper motor scan suffers from environmental interference sources, plus ACelectronic shave 38 distinct auto-scales to correct within
half a degreespecification. The absolute accuracy is achieved by running XL- AC in fixed SQUID rangeand adjustments based on standard reference sample.
A new salt of the previously studied trinuclear transition-metal halidebridged anion [Co3(THF)2Cl8]2- has beensynthesized with a simple alky1 ammonium cation. The magnetic properties ofthis complex were not formerly probed, but interesting magnetic behavior likelydue to the nature of the
linear configuration of the cobalt ions has beenobserved. This compound displays single molecule magnet behavior evident by asignal maximum in the out-of-phase AC susceptibility data. The dependenceof sample properties on temperature, DC field and AC frequency will bediscussed.
报告人简介:Jim O’Brien received his B.S. degree fromU. California, Riverside and in 1997 the Ph. D. from U. California, SanDiego in the area of Inorganic Chemistry. Research with Prof. Oesterreicher focused on reduction- oxidationprocessing of the copper oxide high temperature superconductors. After teaching for a few years at UCSD andUSD, a private Catholic university, he took a position with Quantum Design in2001 as an applications chemist.
Theprimary role is to support customers in acquiring the best possible data withthe various instruments that Quantum Design offers.
